GG's Artisan Bakery

To be fair , I was a little desperate. Lock down has severely limited my samosa hunting. I saw this lonely potential treat in my local deli. Desperate times fall for desperate measures.

It’s a good deli , lots of home made breads / scones / pies to tempt the hungry shopper. And a lovely smiley owner too. I am not sure if the samosas are also home made but they look the part.

I shared this one with Mrs BigTop - and she grumbled that I hadn’t taken the time to warm it in the oven. She was right , I rushed it and the pastry would likely have improved had it crisped. So  let’s give good marks for the pastry as even cold, it really wasn’t bad. Nice and thin but also tasty. And most importantly it wasn’t filo.

The filling was generous and the right ratio to the pastry. There were a good mix of vegetables in there and a little spice - but not really enough, so it was ok but not terrific.

For a lunch time snack to grab on the go, it was a fine bit. It isn’t going to change your life but that seems an unrealistic expectation even for a samosa. We compromised on a score of (I thought 5.5 and Mrs B went with 6.5 if I had warmed it in the oven).
