Mumtaz Mahal, Coin, Spain
So, our first international review (unless you count Lancashire - which , as a Yorkshireman, to be fair, I do).
While in Spain for a few weeks, our hosts suggested "a curry". Now, I often feel a bit weird eating Indian food when on holiday in Europe as I feel I should be eating the local cuisine. It is a ridiculous notion if considered for any length of time and I considered it just long enough to decide I definitely DID want a curry as our very kind hosts said it would be a good one. And it was.
Sunday lunch isn't usually "curry time" in England (my house isn't usual mind you), but this place was packed , so its obviously perfectly ok with Spaniards. Bravo (or something) to them!
Early signs were good, nicely presented plump specimens of a decent size arrived. The pastry was great, hot and fresh and crisp. There was a sweet chutney to accompany, but it wasn't really needed as the filling was generous, moist and delicious - if a little mushy.
A problem I have occasionally found with some Indian Snacks which I very much dislike , is a dusting of what tasted like pure sulphur - and this was present on the samosas. It really doesn't add anything and very much detracts.
While dining, I spied the meat variant samosas on a nearby plate, they appeared to be filled with 100% meat and they looked repulsive. As a result of seeing that, I was very happy with my choice of starter, and indeed my entire meal, it was delicious and well worth a visit (if nearby obviously).
