Gurkha Dining, Macclesfield

Do Nepalese people eat samosa ? It seems so and they do a good job of it.

A lot of beer preceded this tasting so I wasn’t as focussed as I would have liked but I tried my best.

Gurkha dining has an interesting menu with some routine Indian restaurant food but also some slightly more interesting Nepalese inspired dishes.

Or group shared a few starters so I only got the one samosa but it was a good one.

It was nicely sized with plenty of filling and a good crispy pastry. It felt home made rather than factory produced and ticked all the boxes. The filling was cooked to a mashed potato consistency but it worked well and had a good amount of spice and flavour. The chutney was of a tarmarind nature rather than yoghurt but was tasty and didn’t drown the samosas. The salad was based mostly on raw cabbage which wasnt my favourite bit of the meal by any means.

A solid and pleasing samosa. The rest of the meal was also decent. Not life changing, but with smiling staff and a pleasant environment , it’s worth a look if you are in town.

A solid 7.5
