Dewsbury Delights , Dewsbury (sort of obvs)
So, samosa road trip part 2 of 3.
This place came recomended in some reviews (mostly the reviews said "terrible pizza but nice samosas") so we had a go.
The location was odd, about as "out of the way" as you can imagine, but I have found it best not to just on anything other than the food, as some of my winners were in odd or poor looking places.
Again, the food didn't look all that appealing in the cabinet, but again, I withheld judgement.
They cooked them fresh for us, and they looked the part .....
Would they measure up?
Sadly, not quite. We had likely been spoiled by the first visit on the trip, the pastry on those had been so good, it was always going to be hard to catch up.
The pastry was hot and crispy, but a bit bland, like it was a container for the filling and nothing else - packaging. Shame, as it was well cooked. The filling was the hottest of our samples today - in spiciness. One of the kids still had a "gob on fire" as we arrived at our next stop. I liked the heat, but the rest of the flavour was missing, and there were hot but a bit bland, not terrible but not exciting either.
The nice chutney that came with them helped but it was never going to rescue them.
All in all if you were wanting a quick snack, might be worth a go if you were passing. We gave them a 6.5
